Emptier Nest

Late in October, my number 3 left for Michigan—twice. He forgot his wallet. And to be fair, he was super upset. He’d wanted the early start because it was going to be a long day. His dad suggested he “start again” tomorrow. Which could be smart, but my advice was…

“Just keep going. Get on the road and drive. Goodbyes are hard, especially for younger (devoted) siblings and doing it again would probably not hurt more, but it would decrease the first affect! Having those strong feelings is good for these kids to remind them that they belong to each other and family matters and life isn’t easy.

…So, I told him, “your adventure begins. Because you had to drive all the way back home, now you have a story. Whether you drive straight through or have to stop for the night and find a jenky motel, you’ll have a story to tell...”

If we all looked at life this way, maybe it would be easier to embrace the annoyances, the disappointments, and the regrets. They are merely a moment in a long life of ups and downs. We are created by a God, who has a very specific plan for us. And even when the annoyances or bad things happen, it’s not that He planned it that way [because we do have Free Will; greatest gift ever], it’s that He knows. He knows what’s going to happen. He knows the choices we’ll make. He knows how events are going to play out.

And He uses all of our events for good.

So, all that said, we now are two adults and two children, living in this house. We worried the house was a little small, and it is…to our standards and to US American standards, but it still has four bedrooms! And now one is actually a guest room.

My life is ever-changing. Every year brings something new, something different. This is going to be a crazy year. I need to learn to cook for ONLY 4 people.

More on my writing in the next Blog Post. I meant for this one to go out a few weeks ago, but I got distracted. Now I will step away for the week and do some Holiday prepping.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my followers here in the United States. Bless your time and your travels.

With Love,
